Part 41 Reason

Arnav was horrified, seeing a train coming towards them. But NK was not seeming to care about it. He was advancing the train.

"NK..." Arnav shouted.

NK looked at him turning behind. He was shocked, seeing Arnav running towards him.

"Go away, Arnav..." NK shouted nervously.

But Arnav was not ready to listen to him. He increased his speed and reached NK. He tried to pull NK from the track whereas NK tried to push Arnav away from the track. NK panicked as the train got close to them. Clutching NK's collar, Arnav jumped away from the track. Both of them fell to the ground. The train crossed them in a blink of an eye.

Arnav stood up and looked at him angrily. He saw NK's forehead bleeding slightly. There were a few scratches on his hands. Arnav didn't sense his cheekbone wounded. NK dusted his clothes and was about to walk away, but Arnav stopped him, clutching his hand.

"What the hell were you about to do?" Arnav yelled at him.

NK was silent.

"This is why you gave us a TREAT today? Did you think how your friends will feel knowing your bloody decision?"

"Arnav, you don't know what I'm going through"

"Let the reason be anything... Death is not a solution... If people start dying for their problems, this world became a graveyard..."

"Talking is easy but facing problems, Arnav..."

"Oh, really? Every person you cross in day-to-day life has a problem. Could you show one person who doesn't have a problem???? ( he shook his head) You can't... No one can't... Everyone has problems up to their level..."

"Oh... Really? Didn't you see Aman and Khushi? Are not they happy? Will you say no? And what about you? What problem do you have?"

"Seemingly we are happy, it doesn't mean we are happy. Of course, Aman and Khushi are happy, suppressing their problems...They have problems in their lives you can't even imagine.

"What do you mean? Aman and Khushi are in problems? I can't believe this"

NK tried to recall but he could not as he had never heard her calling him in any name.

"I agree you are his best friend but Aman has the biggest problem that he could not share with anyone"

"What problem? Does he have any killer disease?"

"What's there to hide it if he has a killer disease?"

"Hide? What was his problem then?"

"It will be better if Aman himself told you that. Listen to him. If your problem is bigger than his, then you can kill yourself"

NK looked at him with a deep frown. He could not believe Aman and Khushi had a problem.

"Let's go... My daughter is sleeping in the car" Arnav said.

NK would not have gone with him if Arnav had not kept him clueless about Aman and Khushi. He walked with Arnav to know what was their problem.

NK took a back seat as baby Khushi was sleeping in the passenger seat. Arnav adjusted the seat making her comfortable. He called Suman and he attended the call.

"Haan, Arnav, we reached home"

"Sumi, I and NK are coming. Don't sleep. Wait for us"

"NK? Didn't he go to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Nagar?"

"No... It's a lie. I found him in front of the running train"

"Whaaaaat? Tell me clearly. My mind thinks terrifically..."

"Your mind is not wrong"

"What do you mean Arnav?"

"He tried to kill himself. He came to Lucknow to see you before committing suicide I suppose"

"But why?"

"I could say he is under pressure... I'm bringing him. Ask him about it" Arnav disconnected the call.

"Why do you call him SUMI?" NK questioned.

Arnav glimpsed at him.

"You will get all the answers from Sumi... I mean, Aman..."

NK was more confused. He was the best friend of Aman. They shared a very good and understanding bond. Aman was a loyal friend of NK. He could not believe there could be a problem for Aman and he was unaware of it.

Arnav stopped the car and carried baby Khushi on his shoulder. NK followed him hesitatingly. Arnav went to the bedroom and put baby Khushi on the bed.

Suman rushed to NK and clutched his shoulders.

"Is what Arnav said true?"

NK looked at him sternly.

"That's what I'm asking you. Arnav said you have a very big problem. It's that true?"

Suman looked at Arnav.

"I think you should tell him your problem Sumi. Because he thinks, only his problem is bigger than anything" Arnav smiled painfully.

"Tell me, Aman... Why does he call you Sumi? Whose name Sumi is?"

"I will surely tell you... Before that, tell me, why did you try to commit suicide?"

NK gulped down hard.

"Tell me, you, idiot" Aman shouted.

"I met with an accident last month..." Came from him in a low tone.

Cutting him with shock,

"Accident? When? Why didn't you tell me about it?"

"I wanted to... But, everything changed"

"What changed? How?"

"The accident changed my life. An important nerve of mine got damaged in the accident. I lost the ability to satisfy my wife on the bed." He stopped choking.

"Don't feel bad... Neya will give you strength"

"She decided to divorce me" he closed his face and cried.

Suman and Khushi were shocked. They thought Neya was an understanding girl.

"I thought she would be my strength... I never thought she would leave me" he said could not control his tears.

Suman and Khushi looked at one another with disbelief.

"I don't like to live. For whom should I live? I love her like anything. Just because I can't be intimate, how could she throw me like trash? Is there no meaning for love? Is not love a matter of heart? I thought she would bring me out of the grief. But she pushed me in the hellfire" NK cried.

Suman and Khushi felt bad for him. NK and Neya loved each other and got married with their parents' acceptance and lived their life happily. They didn't expect this kind of reaction from Neya because they thought Neya's love for NK was eternal.

"I can't even imagine my life without Neya. I just can't..."

"I can understand your pain, Nanne. But killing yourself could not be a solution" Khushi said looking at Arnav.

"You have no idea what I feel, Khushi"

"She knows very well what you feel... Because she too attempted suicide once" Suman said that shook NK to the root.

"Whaaaat? What did you say? Khushi attempted suicide? When? why? I can't believe this"

"You have to... Because it's true, and we didn't tell you this to divert your mind"

"But why did she attempt suicide?"

"Love failure..." Khushi said.

"Love failure?" He looked at Suman with disbelief.

Suman nodded yes.

"She knew the pain of failure..."

Arnav tightened his jaws. He could not stand the word failure.

"Now, I will answer your question. SUMI is my name only. I liked to be called with a girl's name" Suman said.

"Why?" NK frowned.

"It's because I'm physically a man but mentally a woman"

"Whaaaaaat?" He looked at him shockingly.

"Yes... I'm transgender..." Suman said.

NK was more shocked. He looked at Khushi who was looking at him calmly.

"I... I can't believe this"

"You have to... because I'm..."

"But, you didn't seem so"

"I'm trained to be normal"

"Why didn't you tell me anything about it?"

"Would you have been friendly with me if I had told you about it?"

NK looked at him perplexed. He could not answer.

"I know you could not have been... I won't blame you because our society is like that. That's why I didn't say that to anyone except for Khushi and Arnav"

"Maybe, you are right because I didn't expect this. I'm not prepared to handle this heavy situation but trust me. You are my friend. Nothing will change it." NK hugged Suman aka Aman emotionally, making all of them emotional.
